Amberside Energy and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), representing its Flagship Funds, have joined forces in a partnership aimed at the development of 2 GW of solar and battery storage projects in the United Kingdom. This collaboration signifies a significant commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure and underscores the growing importance of  solar module and battery storage technologies in the UK’s energy landscape.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) holds the distinction of being the largest specialized fund manager globally, focusing on greenfield renewable energy investments. With an impressive track record, CIP has successfully raised around €19 billion dedicated to investments in energy and related infrastructure. This substantial capital enables CIP to play a pivotal role in driving the growth of renewable energy projects and supporting the development of sustainable infrastructure on a global scale.

As part of the collaboration, CIP’s Flagship Funds will supply the necessary capital for project development, aiming to establish a substantial portfolio encompassing various stages of development. Depending on investment decisions made during that period, CIP is committed to providing the required funding for the construction of projects within this portfolio. This strategic approach ensures the financial support needed to bring these projects to fruition and reinforces CIP’s dedication to advancing renewable energy initiatives.

The initiatives undertaken by these projects are in line with the UK’s ambitious goal of achieving “net-zero” greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. By significantly contributing to the nation’s energy independence, these projects will play a crucial role in delivering reliable and cost-effective clean power while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions from energy production. This aligns with the broader objective of transitioning to a sustainable and decarbonized energy sector in the UK.

Amberside Energy will take the lead in initiating and developing the solar and battery storage projects. Leveraging their proprietary grid model and expertise in auditing and asset management, they aim to optimize the efficiency of project development. This strategic approach, coupled with their experience, is expected to enhance the overall effectiveness of the development process and ensure the projects reach their full potential.
