Qcells and Microsoft Corp. have forged a significant eight-year strategic alliance, marking Qcells’ most substantial agreement for module supply and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to date. Under this partnership, Qcells will provide Microsoft with 12 gigawatts (GW) of solar modules and EPC services, which is equivalent to powering over 1.8 million homes each year. Justin Lee, CEO of Qcells, expressed his satisfaction in being involved in a significant commitment that will expedite the worldwide transition to renewable energy solutions. He highlighted Qcells’ unique position to collaborate with Microsoft in fostering a clean and sustainable future, thanks to their investment in establishing an American-made solar supply chain.

Qcells is actively engaged in constructing a comprehensive solar supply chain within the United States, with a focus on producing environmentally-friendly solar modules. Meanwhile, Microsoft remains committed to its sustainability objectives of achieving carbon negativity, water positivity, and zero waste by 2030, through ongoing investments in renewable energy procurement and other initiatives.

In pursuit of their shared objectives, the two companies have formed a collaborative partnership to deliver approximately 1.5 GW of solar panels annually to Microsoft’s contracted projects until 2032. This commitment encompasses the previously announced 2.5 GW module and EPC services agreement made in January 2023.
