In late 2023, the CER carried out a thorough application and evaluation procedure for operators of the accreditation scheme. Subsequently, the Clean Energy Council (CEC) opted not to submit an application to maintain its role in operating an Installer Accreditation scheme.

As a result, the Clean Energy Council’s accreditation services for solar module s and designers have officially ended. This decision will enable the CEC to intensify its essential efforts in advocating for a robust solar industry and assisting installers and the sector in adhering to the intricate regulatory standards.

To maintain qualification for small-scale technology certificates, all installers and designers who were accredited under the previous scheme will be granted a three-month transition window to shift to the accreditation services provided by SAA, which are currently operational.

Kane Thornton, Chief Executive of the Clean Energy Council, expressed pride in the organization’s contribution to bolstering Australia’s solar sector and its global leadership in the adoption of rooftop solar over the last 16 years.

The installation of rooftop solar systems is pivotal in our shift towards clean energy. By 2024, around one out of every three Australian households has adopted solar technology.

I extend my congratulations to Solar Accreditation Australia for their successful application and appointment to this new position.

The Clean Energy Council will maintain a close collaboration with the CER to assist SAA throughout the transition phase and guarantee a smooth handover process.
